Understanding balance locks and movements

Balance Details

The balance detail view shows comprehensive information about an account's balance, including locks and movements. This guide explains how to understand and use this information.

Accessing Balance Details

  1. Navigate to the Balances list
  2. Click on any balance row
  3. The balance detail panel opens

Balance Summary

The top section shows current balance information:

Balance Locks

Locks reserve funds for pending operations. View locks in the Locks tab.

Understanding Locks

Common Lock Reasons

Pending SettlementFunds reserved for merchant settlement

Lock Lifecycle

Created → Active → Released (funds available)
            or
          Canceled (lock removed without action)

Balance Movements

Movements show all transactions affecting the balance. View in the Movements tab.

Understanding Movements

Movement Types

Viewing Lock Details

Click on any lock to see:

  • Full lock information
  • Related transaction
  • Lock history
  • Release conditions

Viewing Movement Details

Click on any movement to see:

  • Complete movement record
  • Related payment or settlement
  • Blockchain transaction (if applicable)
  • Timing information

Reconciliation

Use balance details to reconcile accounts:

  1. Compare ledger to on-chain — Identify differences
  2. Review pending locks — Understand reserved funds
  3. Trace movements — Follow transaction flow
  4. Identify issues — Find stuck or failed operations

When Balances Don't Match

If ledger and on-chain differ significantly:

  1. Check for pending movements (may be in transit)
  2. Look for failed movements that need retry
  3. Review recent activity for anomalies
  4. Report persistent discrepancies for investigation

Common Tasks

Finding a Stuck Payment

  1. Open the balance for the receiving account
  2. Go to Movements tab
  3. Look for movements with status "Pending"
  4. Check the related payment/settlement

Understanding Available Funds

  1. Note the Ledger Balance
  2. View the Locks tab
  3. Sum up active locks
  4. Available = Ledger - Locked

Tracing a Transaction

  1. Find the balance for the account
  2. Go to Movements tab
  3. Filter by date range or reference
  4. Click on the movement to see details
